A rare and impressive complete set of eight Edwardian dining chairs in rich mahogany, sourced from a private estate collection via private auction. Sets of this size and quality are increasingly difficult to find — a genuine opportunity for collectors, interior designers, or anyone furnishing a formal dining room with period character.
The set comprises six elegant side chairs and two commanding carver armchairs with rolled arms — the classic "His & Hers" arrangement that anchors a dining table with real presence. The mahogany frames feature the refined carved detailing characteristic of the Edwardian period, balancing ornament with the lighter, cleaner lines that distinguish this era from its heavier Victorian predecessor.
Upholstered in a rich brown damask-style fabric with gold and warm brown patterning — possibly original to the chairs and in keeping with the period aesthetic. Buyers wishing to reupholster will find the frames in excellent structural condition and well worth the investment.
Condition
Good overall condition for age. Frames are solid with no breaks or damage. Minor age-related surface wear to the mahogany including light surface scratches consistent with careful domestic use. Some frames exhibit very slight movement at the joints (approximately 1–2mm) — easily addressed by a furniture restorer or cabinetmaker. Upholstery shows minor fading consistent with age.
